Molecularly Imprinted Polymers Exhibit Low Cytotoxic and Inflammatory Properties in Macrophages In Vitro

چکیده
Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) against sialic acid (SA) have been developed as a detection tool to target cancer cells. Before proceeding in vivo studies, better knowledge of the overall effects MIPs on innate immune system is needed. The aim this study thus was exemplarily assess whether SA-MIPs lead inflammatory and/or cytotoxic responses when administered phagocytosing cells system. response monocytic/macrophage cell lines two different reference particles, Alhydrogel and PLGA, compared their SA-MIPs. In vitro culture showed cellular association Alhydrogel, analyzed by flow cytometry. particle induced secretion IL-1β from monocytic line THP-1, whereas almost no provoked for A reduced number both THP-1 RAW 264.7 were observed after incubation with not caused cytotoxicity. Digital holographic cytometry that SA-MIP treatment affected division, much fewer dividing. Thus, linked conclusion, low degree properties, are cytotoxic, can be applicable future studies.

متن کاملMolecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) in Biomedical Applications
Within biological systems, these are usually dynamic and are the result of a mass of noncovalent interactions, which act collectively to form a very stable system. Molecular imprinting is a relatively new and rapidly evolving technique used to create synthetic receptors, having recognition properties comparable to the biological systems and it also possesses great potential in a number of appli...
متن کاملCharacterization of the Binding Properties of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers.
The defining characteristic of the binding sites of any particular molecularly imprinted material is heterogeneity: that is, they are not all identical. Nonetheless, it is useful to study their fundamental binding properties, and to obtain average properties. In particular, it has been instructive to compare the binding properties of imprinted and non-imprinted materials. This chapter begins by...
